Artisanal Furniture

We just celebrated Labor Day in America and what better way to acknowledge the holiday than to salute those around the world who put super-human efforts into creating artisanal furniture? A number of the products we’re featuring that fit into this category are among our Spring 2023 releases. Though these sophisticated furnishings span so many material choices, they share something in common: each piece is made with loads of artistic expression by the human hand. The Kallista Blue Credenza above is an excellent example.

Artisanal Furniture

The Currey & Company Auden Brass Demi-Lune Cabinet is one of our artisanal furniture offerings.

The Auden Brass Demi-Lune Cabinet is an exemplar of artistry for a number of reasons. The three metal doors are carved and clad in metal before they are fitted to the piece, and the tiny nailheads that run along the rim of the top band and where sheets of brass meet are gently hammered in by hand. All three doors have push-to-open hardware and the interior is white. This brass demi-lune cabinet will shine from its spot in a room, thanks to the swirling pattern and the gleaming finish.

The Currey & Company Santos Sea Sand Rectangular Cabinet has lovely handmade attributes.

The Santos Sea Sand Rectangular Cabinet has a split rattan pattern on the doors, sides, and top, which is made by hand and applied to a solid mahogany frame. Then a Sea Sand finish is applied to the entire piece. A design detail of note is how the brass pulls sit squarely in the center of the layered circles created by the pattern. This tan cabinet was designed by Aimee Kurzner.

The Currey & Company Kallista Blue Credenza is one of our artisanal furniture offerings.

The Kallista Blue Credenza has a dark sapphire blue finish that enlivens the sycamore veneers cladding its doors. These are set into a caviar black credenza sitting atop a metal base in an antique brass finish, which matches the tone of tailored door pulls. The way the wood veneers are applied by hand brings depth, texture, and movement to this navy-blue credenza that is dressy enough for the most sophisticated home office and the most refined business settings. Aimee Kurzner designed this beautiful credenza.

The Currey & Company Olisa Rope Desk has lovely handmade attributes.

An earthy alternative to rattan and wicker, the Olisa Rope Desk is covered in braided abaca rope to bring a natural elegance to a room. The dexterity required to wrap a piece of furniture so skillfully makes this tan desk special. The artistic quality of this rope-wrapped desk makes it a stunning choice for a home office or a business-formal office in which style matters. This desk comes with a glass top that fits into the outer rim of the top and there is a beige finish inside its drawer. Aimee Kurzner designed this desk.

The Currey & Company Nadene Blue & White Accent Table is one of our artisanal furniture offerings.

The Nadene Blue & White Accent Table is a decorative side table made of alternating colors of bone. The jagged pattern is created when blue and ivory bone are hand-applied to the surface, which makes the blue occasional table an artisanal accent that packs a textural punch. The lovely square accent table sits atop a brass plinth base that adds to its sophisticated profile. This complex composition was designed by Aimee Kurzner.

The Currey & Company Sisal Screen has lovely handmade attributes.

Diligent concentration and a talent for uniformity are imperative for the Sisal Screen to come to life because the construction requires that pandan leaves are twisted into rope and affixed to a solid oak frame in a swirl pattern. The way the circlets are organically placed enhances the textural feel of this neutral accent. The screen is finished on both sides and the hinges are dual action so they can move in both directions. The scalloped top is a design detail that will bring artfulness to the room in which it is placed. This earthy design, named for the port city in the Yucatan, is in the Marjorie Skouras Collection.

The Currey & Company Faux Bois Cocktail Table is one of our artisanal furniture offerings.

In the time-honored artistry of French faux bois, the base of the Faux Bois Cocktail Table is fashioned to resemble an aged tree that gracefully angles up to its top to convince the eye that nature created it. Durability is built into this faux bois table's DNA. The mix of lighter Portland and dark acid concrete finishes bring this creation ample texture, as do the life rings carved into its top.

The Currey & Company Jessamine Blue & White Accent Table has lovely handmade attributes.

With a surface that is studded with beautifully fashioned white flowers, the Jessamine Blue & White Accent Table is truly an artisanal piece. Rather than apply one type of bloom, a number of floral shapes are intermingled to give the white and blue decorative table charm. The handmade character of the piece comes from the fact that each flower is created individually and applied, one-by-one, by hand. The blue accent table will be a lovely piece in a room.

The Currey & Company Geo Accent Table is one of our artisanal furniture offerings.

Made of mango wood, the Geo Accent Table is covered in pieces of natural mango wood, white bone, and black composite in an octagonal multi-colored pattern. Each piece of the complex puzzle is cut and applied by hand, making this a painstaking piece to realize. The pattern flows all the way to the floor and the tan accent table is a hexagon shape that will add interest to its spot in a room.

The Currey & Company Olisa Large Rope Console Table has lovely handmade attributes.

An earthy alternative to rattan and wicker, the Olisa Large Rope Console Table is covered in braided abaca rope to bring a natural elegance to a room. The dexterity required to wrap a piece of furniture so skillfully makes this tan console table special. Due to the increased size of this rope-wrapped console table, it will make a commanding statement in grandly scaled spaces, such as great rooms and statuesque foyers. The natural material in which it is wrapped also means it's fitting for coastal settings. This console table was designed by Aimee Kurzner.
