Flower Magazine Showhouse
We’re in excellent company as a sponsor of the Flower Magazine Showhouse in Baton Rouge, which opened on November 3rd and will be receiving visitors until the 26th. Given the closing is this coming Sunday, there’s limited time to trek to one of the Louisiana cities that made the phrase “Laissez les bons temps rouler,” let the good times roll, famous! You can still order tickets in advance if you plan to attend.

Rooms in the custom Georgian home, called “Ivy House,” have been transformed by 15 high-profile interior designers. The classically-styled 6,000-square-foot home was designed by Baton Rouge native Andy McDonald and Ivy Residential Concepts, a third-generation design/build team also based in Baton Rouge. Flower magazine founder and editor-in-chief Margot Shaw tapped Barry Dixon as the Honorary Chair and Mary McDonald as the Design Chair for this new showhouse. Located on the fabled Goodwood Estate in Baton Rouge, Ivy House is nestled into a 16 1/2-acre community dotted with live oaks, hollies, camellias, and azaleas. The grounds have been professionally landscaped by Reich Landscape Architecture, one of the oldest operating landscape firms in the state of Louisiana. A walled courtyard leads guests into the house, where they are greeted by a dramatic entry with a floating stairwell and a light-filled living room.
In the vibrant family/media room, Megan Molten and her team tapped a slew of our products that look spectacular in the space. Scroll down to the “Shop the Showhouse” section to click through to all of them. Photography by Paul Costello.
Other main-floor highlights include a gourmet kitchen and adjoining butler’s pantry, a primary suite and dressing room outfitted with custom cabinetry, and a nursery space designed to mature along with its little girl or boy. Upstairs, two bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms have been designed to be luxurious retreats, and a study and spacious family/media room is made for gathering families together. The backyard showcases the best in alfresco living, replete with a covered porch that is ideal for year-round entertaining, a pool, a turf checkerboard pool deck, and a brick cabana for lounging and escaping from the afternoon sun.

Staying true to the magazine’s founding philosophy, Shaw enlisted six renowned floral designers to brighten the spaces with stunning arrangements. These include Dunn and Sonnier, Hummingbird Floral Studio, Kim Starr Wise, Michelle West Design Studio, and Pick-a-Petal Floral Design. Visitors to the showhouse can expect to see a wide range of design styles, from traditional Southern elegance to modern interpretations of Southern charm. Tour tickets are $40 each; and a portion of Flower Magazine Showhouse ticket sales will benefit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital®.
