Artisanal Occasional Tables

With a surface that is studded with beautifully fashioned white flowers, the Jessamine White Side Table is truly an artisanal piece. Rather than apply one type of bloom, a number of floral shapes are intermingled to give the white decorative table charm. The handmade character of the piece comes from the fact that each flower is created individually and applied, one-by-one, by hand. The white accent table will be a lovely piece in a room.

A representation of both whimsy and coastal aesthetics, the Georgetown Brass Drinks Table has a fanciful lobster affixed to its thin stem. Made of brass in an antique brass finish, the gold drinks table will bring smiles to all who spy it during happy hour or at any time of the day. The nautical table is a terrific choice for seaside homes and beachfront condos, or any room in which a conversation starter is desired.

The Sisalana White Accent Table was inspired by the flourishing Agave sisalana plant, whose spiky, leathery fronds curl up from the ground just as the petite clumps of leaves on this white accent table do. “My love of the Agave plant, of which hundreds of varieties flourish in the Yucatan, has inspired me for many years,” says the table’s designer Marjorie Skouras. Her passion for the Yucatan Peninsula, the surroundings in which she lives and through which she translates the flora and fauna into dynamic products in her studio, shines in this wrought iron table covered in a mix of crisp gesso white and rough gesso white finishes with a mirrored top.

The Tanay Brass Accent Table is not shy when it comes to infusing a space with an incredible mix of textures. Not only does the cast aluminum top have tell-tale pitting on the surfaces of its gleaming gold interior and exterior edge, the bottom of its tabletop is stamped in a snakeskin pattern in a graphite finish. This masterpiece of artistry sits atop a black iron base that is minimal to allow the artisanal top to be the scene-stealer.

With gorgeously rich surface details, the Dorian Accent Table is clad in oak veneers that are laser cut and laid in place like pieces being fitted into a jigsaw puzzle. The panels of diamond box patterns are flanked by black racing stripes to add depth to the piece. The fact that each element is cut and hand-applied makes this an artisanal statement, and the inset base and top add character to the wood accent table. This lovely table was designed by Aimee Kurzner.

The Demi Black Side Table is made of solid Bheslana marble. A bevel softens the oval that is carved into the stone on both sides to infuse the black accent table with sophistication, as the cut-outs form an oculus. The way the base tapers to a smaller form toward the top is a shapely design move, as is the chamfered detail under the top. This is a very petite table that has a dynamic personality.

An homage to timelessness, the Bavi Whitewash Accent Table is made of clay that has been expertly molded into a whimsical shape that calls to mind exotic temples. The table is petite and the whitewash finish that covers the surfaces unevenly adds a momentous texture to this adorable creation. The balls are also made of clay and have been whitewashed to seamlessly ornament the fluted section near the top from which they dangle.

The Nadene Blue & White Accent Table is a decorative side table made of alternating colors of bone. The jagged pattern is created when blue and ivory bone are hand-applied to the surface, which makes the blue occasional table an artisanal accent that packs a textural punch. The lovely square accent table sits atop a brass plinth base that adds to its sophisticated profile. This complex composition was designed by Aimee Kurzner.

The Gati Umber Accent Table is made of wood in an umber finish. The grooves along the surface and the dark finish that brings a random level of distressing comingle to increase the textural interest on the surface of the dark brown accent table. The grooves are hand-done, which makes their uniformity surprising and illustrates the skill of the craftsperson who made it. This is slightly shorter than the average accent table at 17 inches tall.

Made of mango wood, the Geo Accent Table is covered in pieces of natural mango wood, white bone, and black composite in an octagonal multi-colored pattern. Each piece of the complex puzzle is cut and applied by hand, making this a painstaking piece to realize. The pattern flows all the way to the floor and the tan accent table is a hexagon shape that will add interest to its spot in a room.

The Terra Accent Table convinces the eye it is made entirely from natural wood, when in fact its surface is metal that has been wrapped over a hand-carved wood substrate and pushed into place to amplify a natural grain pattern. Once the dynamic ornamentation has been fully achieved, the top columnar portion is bronzed while the inset base is made of brass that has been lightly texturized. This is a truly artisanal piece.

The Barnacle White Side Table is made by a group of women who live at the border of Burma and Thailand. Made from ceramic, this incredible hand-thrown table is completely covered in handmade ornamentations that look like small barnacles. Once the decorative elements are in place, the vase is glazed with an antique white that provides the table with its depth and personality.
