Mining for Gold in Interiors
We’re less than a week away from the Las Vegas Market, which kicks off on January 29 and runs through February 2, so we thought we’d salute the brave souls who headed west looking for riches. We’re not searching in streams for glittering nuggets, we’re mining for gold in interiors by featuring some of our brilliant products. We have a number of new releases that shimmer just as magically as those small treasures that were panned from cascading water over 170 years ago, including our Lavengro Chandelier that is luminous in the image above.
Mining for Gold in Interiors
The Archway Table Lamp was designed by Clarence Mallari, the domed shape with its arcing lines inspired by a pagoda. The mix of finishes on the gold table lamp is an interplay of luminous and dark, the brilliant contemporary gold finish on the composite body contrasting the black base. An equally bright orb finial fastens the natural linen shade in place
The abstract contemporary form that brings the La Porta Gold Table Lamp its personality was envisioned by Clarence Mallari. Made of composite in a mix of contemporary gold leaf and black finishes, the sculptural lamp has mid-century modern bones though it also reads as contemporary. A cylindrical gold finial fastens the off-white shantung shade to the lamp.
A nod to brutalist style with a gleaming antique brass finish, the Cheenee Table Lamp has a powerful silhouette. The gold table lamp has a long neck that subtly narrows in the middle, and the entire composition is striated with chisle marks in between the lines to bring added texture to the sculptural profile. Adding to this is the natural linen shade with its subtle striations.
The Lavengro Chandelier is a layered design with a tremendous amount of charm. Wrought-iron discs in varying sizes are stacked in meandering patterns to make up the shade. The contemporary gold leaf finish on the discs and the central bar to which these are fastened gleam warmly whether the lights are switched on or not. This modern design by Clarence Mallari is innovative, as well, as it is lit by integrated LED technology.
The angular arc of the stem on the Cloister Brass Large Floor Lamp, the way the shade dangles, and the minimal shape of its base are design details that make it an exemplar of contemporary design. The clean way the stem is fastened to the base and the pared-down lines of the white linen shade enhance the gold floor lamp’s modernity. The acrylic diffuser fastened by the petite button finial is a clever aspect to this design.
The Kenna White Vase Set includes large and small gold and white vases made of cast aluminum with striations running along the circumference of their surfaces. Bringing extra character to the set of vases are the mold lines that run the length of the pieces from top to bottom on both sides. These are the hallmarks of the artisanal handicrafts that flourish in India, as the organic patterns show the touch of the maker’s hand.
The Banah Bowl Set includes three decorative bowls in varying sizes with a refined texture on the exteriors and white enamel on the interiors. The combination of sophisticated striations and smooth swathes of crisp white makes the gold decorative bowls attractive additions to contemporary interiors. The perfect size for filling with glass balls or other lively accents, they will be just as pretty left unfilled. Given the enamel interiors, these bowls are not food-safe.
The Lavengro Wall Sconce is a layered design with a tremendous amount of charm.
The Golden Eucalyptus Round Chandelier in the Aviva Stanoff Collection is a nature-inspired gold sconce made from metal in a contemporary gold leaf finish. Stanoff says of this family of products, “Being a California native, eucalyptus has always surrounded me. The scent is smooth, minty and elegant, always evoking a sense of home and shelter. With the products in this eucalyptus family, which includes this gold chandelier, we pulled branches from mother nature's gardens for inspiration.”
Because the integrated LED bulb is located in the bottom cup of the Sheereen Semi-Flush, the light that filters up through the artfully bent wire structure adds texture to a space as its patterns wash the ceiling. The concave shape that dips downward and upward in the middle brings this gold ceiling light an attractive fluidity. The circular form of the bent wire is welded together, which makes this a labor-intensive design in a mix of contemporary gold leaf and painted contemporary gold finishes.
To celebrate the design prowess with which Tom Caldwell approaches all of his ideas, the Caldwell Table Lamp is officially one of his most classic. The architectonic stem that composes the slim profile has a bee-hive ornament at its middle point and culminates at the optic crystal base in three concentric rings that grow as they meet the stacked material. The pointed finial is a clever touch, as it looks as if the stem pierced the shade uninterrupted. Finishing the metal with an antique brass finish brings the gold table lamp warmth, as does the bone linen shade with its suave narrow profile.
The contemporary brutalist profile of the Emmental Chandelier was designed by Clarence Mallari, who was inspired by swiss cheese as he drew the concentric fluted rings that surround the light source. The holes in the wrought-iron panels were laser cut, and the metal was provided with an added gleam when finished in contemporary gold leaf that also has a hint of texture to it. Illustrating this designer’s talent for finesse is the way the panels are attached with ball-shaped ornaments on the top and bottom.
Tom Caldwell envisioned the award-winning style of the Forlana Torchiere Table Lamp with its clever trophy shape. Very sturdy metal wires rise from a metal base, all in a contemporary gold leaf finish. Adding to the gleaming quality of the gold table lamp is the optic crystal base that grounds the design. Another design detail that introduces character is how the off-white shantung shade nestles into the interior of the gold torchiere so perfectly.
The Glimmer Gold Table Lamp has a textural exterior created by a mosaic of broken-glass bangle bracelets from India that were in pieces when they were hand-applied. The uniformity of the surface of the column requires a painstaking process that takes hours to achieve. The mosaic, which is applied to a wood structure, shimmers given it is made of glass. We also offer gold and blue/green decorative boxes, and a mirror in this design.
