With Thanksgiving behind us and the busy holiday season ahead, we thought we’d share our High Point Market Bestsellers before the sparkle dazzles us all dizzy! These included many new introductions, like the Ganav Figure Set and Pear Set shown in the image above with the Dog of the Moon bronze sculpture against a colorful Thibaut wallpaper. We’d like to thank so many of you who stopped in to see us. Our VP of Sales, Bob Ulrich, says of the attendance, “The traffic in our showroom was very good and there were times when it was so busy you could barely move; and the customers were engaged and complimentary of our new introductions, service levels, and our beautiful showroom!”

High Point Market Bestsellers

The Tia Box Set made of white bone and wood sold very well during fall market.

Joining our Ganav Figure Set, and Pear Set in the bestselling new Objects category was the Alfeo Box Set and the Tia Box Set, shown above, which includes two decorative accessories in smaller and larger sizes. The offset brick pattern that runs along the sides and tops are made of white bone and wood to bring the brown decorative boxes a refined sense of movement that resembles piano keys. Both boxes are linen-lined and the designer Aimee Kurzner points out that there are brass pins on the inside that ensure the pattern stays aligned.

The Benjiro Chandelier was one of our High Point Market Bestsellers.

The new pendants and chandeliers that made the top ten during fall market were the Piero Black Medium Pendant, which came in at #1, and our Benjiro Chandelier, shown above, that ranked #7. It is made of steel in a Cupertino finish and was designed by Ian Thornton. The off-white fabric shades fitted into the inner-most cylinders soften the glow of the LED bulbs. Inspired by mid-century modern shapes with a bit of a space-aged twist, Ian tapped into the famed era when wicker and macramé shapes with exploding profiles were all the rage. The dark brown chandelier hangs on aircraft cable to create the illusion it is floating. Our tried-and-true bestsellers in this category this fall included the Grand Lotus Black Large Chandelier, which came in at #2; and the Ibizia Chandelier, which landed at #3.

The Norene Demetira Wing Chair and Bench, and the Norene Console Table have spool, or bobbin, ornamentations intermittently placed along them.

In our Occasional Seating category, two of our new introductions made the top five, the Norene Demetira Wing Chair that took the #1 spot, and the Tegal Muslin Navy Chair that came in at #5. The Chair is shown with the Console Table and Bench in the collection, the latter taking the #9 spot in the Upholstery Ottomans and Benches category. The pieces in this collection are made of Mindi wood in a fog gray finish. The raised white lines in the fabric on the chair and bench bring a textural feel to the cushions, as does the way the wood grain shows through the finish that lightens the material so beautifully. Special attributes about the collection are the bobbin, or spool, ornamentations that are intermittently placed along them.

The Lavengro Wall Sconce was one of our High Point Market Bestsellers.

Among the most popular wall sconces at fall market were the new Lavengro at #4, shown above, and the Satire Brass Swing-Arm at #8. The Lavengro Wall Sconce is a layered design with a tremendous amount of charm. Wrought-iron discs in varying sizes are stacked in meandering patterns to make up the shade. The contemporary gold leaf finish on the discs and the central bar to which these are fastened gleam warmly whether the lights are switched on or not. This modern design by Clarence Mallari is innovative, as well, as it is lit by integrated LED technology. Our ever-popular wall sconces that took the #1 and #2 spots respectively are the Savill and the Rowland.

The Chadee Black Mirror made of tiny rolling pins used to flatten chapati bread in Italy is new this fall.

Three of our new mirrors were bestsellers: the Niva Round Wall Mirror, the Andar Oval Mirror, and the Chadee Black Mirror, shown above. This personable mirror has a shape that celebrates the classic sunburst mirror, though it offers a twist on the tried-and-true design with its undulating rays rendered in reclaimed wood finished in a rich black. The rays are made of tiny rolling pins that were used to flatten chapati bread, then painted. The black decorative mirror has a very different, more casual vibe than others of similar shapes, showcasing the versatility of the classic style. Among some of our longest-lasting popular products in the top ten were our Tisbury Small and Large Mirrors and our Oyster Shell Mirror.

The rope-wrapped Olisa Bar Cart was one of our High Point Market Bestsellers.

In the Furniture Accents category, the new Olisa Bar Cart, shown above, came out on top. With the earthy feel of rattan and wicker, the piece is covered in braided abaca rope to bring a natural elegance to a room. The dexterity required to wrap a piece of furniture so skillfully makes this tan bar cart special. Glass inserts on the upper and lower shelves protect the absorbent material from liquid that would stain it if spilled drinks and spritzes of fruit escaped their intended glasses. The roller feet make this happy hour helpmate easy to move around, and it is narrow enough to place in hallways.

The Santos Vintage Navy Rectangular Cabinet is one of our new fall introductions that was popular at fall market.

The Santos Vintage Navy Rectangular Cabinet, shown above with other new products, was a bestseller in the Furniture Cabinets category. It was joined by our long-time immensely popular Briallen White Demi-Lune and the Morombe White Credenza. The Santos Vintage Navy Rectangular Cabinet has a split rattan pattern on the drawers, sides, and top, which is made by hand and applied to a solid mahogany frame. Then a vintage navy finish covers the entire piece. An inset glass top protects the natural material. A finely designed detail is how the brass pulls in a brushed brass finish sit squarely in the center of the outer circles created by the pattern. This elongated navy-blue cabinet will be an attractive addition to a dining room where it will be the perfect sideboard.

The Serpent Accent Table was one of our High Point Market Bestsellers.

Three of our Occasional Tables landed at the top of the popular roster: the Serpent Accent Table, the Coral Accent Table, and the Freya Accent Table were situated as the top three, all shown above with the new Gallo Bronze Accent Table. The Serpent Accent Table has curvy creatures supporting its top, the slinky legs pulling a balancing act as they clamp down on its thin surface. This is a whimsical aspect of this design. Made of cast aluminum in an antique brass finish, the gleaming gold occasional table will certainly be a conversation starter in any space, as it will command attention when the luminous surfaces glow when light touches them. Illustrating the artisanal aspects of cast aluminum, there are drifts of patina throughout the profile.

The new Anisa Black Etagere with its interplay of dark and warm tones is perfect for a natural style story.

The new Anisa Black Etagere took top honors in the Furniture Shelving category. The piece has a trick up its sleeve: because the frame that is covered in oak veneer in a caviar black finish is fitted with rattan cane panels, it is artfully attractive from all sides. The larger rattan sections are in a radio weave and the smaller ones in an open weave to mix it up and bring the black and tan etagere a dynamic textural quality. The contrast of the sleek, dark frame and the straw-colored material sets this firmly in a black and natural style story.

The Caldwell Table Lamp celebrates the skills of one of our talented team, Tom Caldwell, who designed it and the floor lamp.

In the Table and Floor Lamp categories our new Caldwell introductions were in the top ten. The Caldwell Table Lamp at #5 and the Caldwell Floor Lamp at #9. To celebrate the design prowess with which Tom Caldwell approaches all of his ideas, these pieces, which are officially several of his most classic, were named for him. The architectonic stem that composes the slim profile has a bee-hive ornament at its middle point and culminates at the optic crystal base in three concentric rings that grow as they meet the stacked material. The pointed finial is a clever touch, as it looks as if the stem pierced the shade uninterrupted. Finishing the metal with an antique brass finish brings the gold table lamp warmth, as does the bone linen shade with its suave narrow profile.

The Pathos 36-Light Multi-Drop Pendant dangles shades that are true works of mouth-blown art.

Many of the new introductions in our Multi-Drops category were in the top 12, the Pathos 36-Light among them. This Multi-Drop Pendant dangles shades that are true works of art. The orbs have been doused in reactive glazes that make their special qualities known in the antique gold on the top and matte charcoal on the bottom, which will look different when illumination flows through them. The beads on the top were melted into the molten glass just before it cooled to bring even more effervescence the design. This is definitely a fixture for anyone who appreciates individual elements made by hand. The canopies of this collection of multi-drops are in an antique silver finish.

The holiday season is now official, as we see Thanksgiving in the rear-view mirror and are careening toward Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, and New Year’s Eve! There were many more of our products that rose to the top in their categories, but this snapshot is a great representation of what designers were eager to source for their projects. The luminosity of gold certainly shows up as a trend in the products above, as does the black and natural style story. We hope the tales you will tell of the holiday season to come with be happy and prosperous ones!
